Prima Facie Decision Framework
A practical decision architecture for moving from an idea to a durable outcome without becoming trapped by a rigid lifecycle.
Think It. Design It. Build It. Harden It.
Why it exists
What began as a way to survive became the way I create, decide, and move through life.
The framework began with four direct actions: I have an idea. I plan the idea. I work on the idea. I adjust the idea. Experience across community work, publishing, business, education, and software refined those actions into the framework used today.
Overview
The Prima Facie Decision Framework governs the initiative: whether it deserves attention, how its current shape should emerge, when an idea has become real, and what must be adjusted before the result can be trusted.
ALM, SDLC, Agile, editorial workflows, business planning, and other specialized methods can operate inside it. They govern the work. The framework governs the decisions around that work.
The four decisions
Each stage asks a different question. Together they keep purpose, emergence, creation, and trust in view without pretending the destination is already stable.
Clarify the need, the desired outcome, the audience, and the first risks before committing resources.
Create enough structure to move forward while allowing evidence, constraints, and implementation to reshape it.
Make the idea real enough to prove assumptions, expose gaps, and create useful feedback.
Adjust what now exists until it is durable, usable, resilient, and fit for its intended purpose.
Protecting focus
Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 separate the current mission from valuable later work and ideas that should remain visible.
The current mission. It receives active thought, design, development, and hardening.
Do now. Protect focus.Important work that is not required for the current milestone or first release.
Retain. Promote deliberately.Ideas worth recording and considering, without a commitment or schedule.
Keep visible. Do not chase.Framework within framework
The framework remains intentionally domain-independent. The activities inside each stage change with the work; the decisions remain recognizable.
Think It. Design It. Build It. Harden It.
